ZORRO UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED
We rescued 3-year-old Staffy/Cattle/Mastiff ‘Zorro’ from the pound over 6-months ago. He had been abandoned at a local freeway rest-stop. We had him immediately desexed, vaccinated and homed at our Emergency Shelter in Mullumbimby.
John, our shelter caretaker, took on the responsibility of fostering and training Zorro. Angeji the Basenji formed a lovely friendship with Zorro, and Lissie the Furry Dogmother also helped with some socialisation events at the beach where we discovered Zorro was a big, strong, self-assured, absolute gentleman. We were so proud of him!
Zorro engendered a lot of interest, but due to his sheer strength and imposing presence, we didn’t feel he had met his ideal new folk until we introduced him to David, who has a 28-acre farm right in the heart of Byron Bay.
Zorro is now completely enamoured of David and has befriended David’s other 12-year-old Staffy x Lab ‘Blacky’, loves his walks on the farm and was quick to relish the daily swims in the properties water-holes.
Very uncharacteristically, David has even allowed Zorro to sneak an occasional morning cuddle on David’s bed!! 😆
We are completely thrilled that Zorro has found his own little slice of paradise. Love you big boy! 💖
Rescued from the pound, 3-year-old Staffy x Collie x Mastiff ‘Zorro’ has now been microchipped, vaccinated, worm/flea/tick/heartworm treated and desexed.
He is now recuperating with our shelter caretaker after his ordeal of being abandoned at a local truck-stop.
Zorro endeared himself with the council rangers, appeared calm around other dogs at the pound and greeted Angeji the Basenji and myself with pleading eyes and a chilled temperament.
He’s a bit of a boof-head, has the stance of a Border Collie, the musculature of a Staffy/Mastiff and both eyes are half brown and blue as seen in Collie/Cattle dogs.
He is responsive to commands and reprimands, has a sweet nature and will make a great companion for someone who can handle a physically strong dog.
Zorro has enjoyed a gentle, issue-free walk with two other dogs – further testing/socialisation with more dogs will be forthcoming once he has fully recovered from his surgery.
