WALTER UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED
Little old Silky Terrier x Dachshund ‘Walter’ had obviously lived a very hard life when we rescued him; totally infested with fleas, dirty, skinny, didn’t know a single command and was struggling with some health issues. He was also a rampant humper due to never having been desexed (which we remedied immediately).
Big hearted Michelle, who had adopted little King Charles Cavalier x Dachshund ‘Loki’ close to two years ago, kindly offered to foster Walter.
Within no time Loki and Walter became bestie’s and even go to Doggy Daycare & Grooming together for regular bubble baths and pampering.
Although darling little Walter has issues including health and an insurmountable fear of men, Michelle adores him and has pledged to give him the most loved-up, protected and indulged life for as long as he has left.
We can’t express how grateful we are to Michelle for taking in both Loki and Walter – two seriously abused dogs who needed an angel 🙏🙏💖💖
Little scallywag ‘Walter’ (formerly Poppy Bear) is an 8-year-old desexed male Silky Terrier x Dachshund.
We rescued him on Thursday; he then enjoyed his first excursion to the beach where he swam and romped happily with lots of other dogs. He then had a bath to rid him of hundreds of fleas, together with a worm, flea & tick treatment.
Then he was off to his foster-carers. Many thanks to Leanne who got him in to the vet on Friday, where he was health-checked, castrated and vaccinated. He’s also being crate-trained and is settling in to his new lifestyle with ease.
Walter is a street-smart little dude. He has been allowed to roam the streets for years and has miraculously survived. He has zero training and knows zilch commands. He also has zelective hearing 😆
Nevertheless, he is a sweet little chap who will benefit from lots of loving care. He is great with other dogs and completely at ease with cats. He has been around children, but will snap if grabbed suddenly. We think he may have some mild arthritis pain in his hind quarters.
🚩 Once recovered from his desex, Walter will be moving into another foster situation with one of our previously adopted dogs, Loki, the 4-year-old Cavalier x Dachshund. If things work out, Walter will be adopted…
