TILLY UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED
When gorgeous 4½-year-old Amstaff x Boxer x Ridgeback ‘Tilly’ was surrendered to us for rehoming, she was in all sorts of trouble with council and was scheduled to be slapped with a nuisance order for her serial suburban-yard-escaping and complete lack of recall.

How thrilled were we when Cathy (who lives remotely on 14-acres of horse farm) asked to meet Tilly.

We drove and ferried our way to Cathy’s farm, whereupon Tilly’s wild adventures began.

We don’t think Tilly had ever known such freedom and boy oh boy, did she revel in and take full advantage of the nearby beach, the paddocks, the canals and the fabulous onsite dam. She ran, she frolicked, and she swam and swam and swam!!

She befriended the horses and after accompanying Cathy on rides, will jump in the dam and swim beside them as they cool off – too gorgeous!

After a few weeks of almost feral-like freedom, we believe Tilly finally realised this was indeed her new home whereupon she slowed down substantially and now loves to walk beside Cathy rather than a kilometre ahead and all around. She also has the company of two other dogs who stay on the property.

With tons of praise and delicious treats every time Tilly did come to command, her recall has improved tenfold. She is still a work in progress, but the sheer joy and exaltation paraded across her face is a pleasure to witness.

Tilly accompanies Cathy and her brother wherever they go, and I even got to see her in town last week sitting serenely at a cafe before calmly heading off by Cathy’s side 🥰🥰

Good on you Tilly, and huge thanks to Cathy for your dedication and perseverance 🙏♥️

ADOPTION

4½-year-old desexed female Amstaff x Boxer x Ridgeback ‘Tilly’ is sadly looking for a new home.

Tilly’s exquisitely gentle, soft, yet playful nature just made me want to scoop her up in my arms and never let go.

Tilly adores the company of humans (including children) and other dogs. She is unfortunately clever enough to escape her property if left on her own for too long and will seek out the company of neighbouring dogs or children at a nearby school. Alas, this has gotten her into trouble.

She is a good girl but does need some further recall training. Tilly is not a barker and would love nothing more than to bond with a companion or family, get adequate daily exercise and socialisation and then hang out with you as a loyal adoring cohort.
