🐈⬛ ROCKY UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED 🐈⬛
Now 11-months-old, Border Collie/Kelpie/Cattle dog ‘Rocky’ is loving life with his new family.
Farmey and wife Rebecca, together with their three children, love their new rural home on 40-acres and felt they could finally offer a dog a fabulous lifestyle.
Because they had NEVER owned a dog, they contacted Byron Dog Rescue for advice. We discussed the temperaments and traits of many dog breeds and settled on a working breed who would thoroughly enjoy romps around their large property and contend with the various other farm animals also resident.
We suggested they visit our shelter and meet Rocky, who possesses a lovely nature and was learning rapidly. His recall had improved greatly and he was ripe for more training and family life.
Rocky’s behaviour at the meet-up was exemplary!! 🥰 He was sweet, attentive and gentle. The family’s youngest child is a real little wanderer, and amazingly, Rocky kept rushing off, fetching and bringing the youngster back to the pack. The parents were wide-eyed with admiration and awe. After an hour of hanging with Rocky, the family were completely smitten.
We requested they go away and really think about their decision to adopt Rocky and watch both series of Muster Dogs. We gave them some simple training tips and suggested they also watch some training videos.
A few days later, I delivered Rocky to his new home where he was so excited to see everyone again. He is now an unquestionable member of the family and extremely loved by all.

8-month-old desexed male Border Collie Kelpie Cattle Dog ‘Rocky’ is looking for his ideal new home.
Rocky is a really lovely natured boy who is typical of his breeds. He is very bright, inquisitive and affectionate. He has proven too much for his current family due to his exuberance and energy.
He is great with other dogs, chickens and cows. He will chase cats and currently startles at horses. He is great with kids except for his boisterousness (knock-over hazard).
Rocky will respond exceptionally to obedience training, continued socialisation and an active lifestyle. He comes from working stock so could do well on an operational hobby farm.
