YANDI UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED
Gorgeous but troubled girl ‘Yandi’ a 3yo Lab Staffy Collie cross arrived at our open-air shelter last October. She loved human interactions and showed deep affection for adults and children alike, but displayed enormous fear of and reactivity toward other dogs.
Together with Lissie the Furry Dogmother, we began the process of gentle and supervised interactions with the other shelter dogs. Once Yandi realised she was protected, she tentatively began to run and play. After many more fraught, ferocious but careful introductions to new dogs arriving at the shelter, Yandi finally ‘clicked’ and realised we were always going to keep her safe. She relaxed and new arrivals were eventually met with her calm and welcoming demeanour. Such a thrill for us to witness 😅
When potential adopters Monica & Michael visited the shelter in search of their new dog, Yandi took full advantage of the opportunity and literally showered them with her adorable love & affection – the deal was sealed!
Yandi now lives in sheer luxury with Monica & Michael who adore her beyond words. Yandi has a huge, safe yard to play in, loves the grandkids and continues to work with Lissie for her remaining occasional fear reactivity on-leash.

Yummy ‘Yandi’ is rather a special girl. She’s a 3-year-old Border Collie x Labrador with a pinch of Staffy.
Yandi didn’t have a great start in life. She was mistreated and chained up for long periods in public places where she was unable to protect herself or feel safe.
Luckily Yandi was given safe harbour in a kind woman’s home at the age of two years. She has now been formally surrendered for rehabilitation and rehoming.
After very careful introductions to our other shelter dogs, Yandi is settling in beautifully. She is feeling safe, cared for and is thoroughly enjoying running, playing and having so much fun with the other dogs.
Yandi is super smart, loving and affectionate. She connects with humans on a deep soul level. She knows basic commands and is like a sponge with learning and wanting to please. She is also great with children.
