• UPDATE: Rusty has now gone on trial to his new family.
  • UPDATE:  Rusty will be going on trial to his new forever home in late July.
  • Rusty is a desexed 2yr old male purebred Aust. red cattle dog. He has been in our care for three months. He was rescued from Kyogle area where he had been neglected and tied up in a shed with a heavy, tight chain around his neck. We suspect he had been treated in this way because he wouldn’t work properly.
Rusty has now put on weight and thanks to his devoted carer who takes him to the beach every day – Rusty has now learnt how to play with other dogs. He is a very affectionate dog and follows his male carer everywhere.
Rusty, even though born to be a working dog has now adjusted to small town living as long as he has regular exercise and visits to the beach. He is a inside/outside dog.
Rusty is untested around children (fine with adults). He still displays some of the cattle dog traits. We know he chases horses and we wouldn’t recommend him around cats or chickens. Rusty is a loyal and high energy dog. He would suit a home with a nice natured female dog of similar weight and energy level.  CAWI is hoping to find a lifelong home with someone who has extensive knowledge of the cattle dog breed.
    Adoption fee is $300.00.
