PODGE UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

HOORAY for Podge!!  💃🤸

Gentle giant Podge has been in our care for 8 months. In that time we’ve all had our secret and not so secret crushes and love affairs with the big beguiling boy.

🙏🙏🙏 A huge thanks to Lia and her three darling kids who fostered & loved Podge for half of his time with us before he had to became a resident of our shelter, due to the rigidity and callousness of a local real estate agent.

Although we went out on a limb for Podge’s new soul-mate Jimi (due to less than ideal living circumstances), Podge & Jimi are nevertheless having an awesome life together. They are constant companions enjoying three huge walks a day with occasional recreational outings to different beaches in the Ballina and Byron Shires.

Podge also enjoys play-dates 😆 with his new best doggy-mate Milo (pictured). They run around together for hours with Milo trying to get the better of Podge, sometimes resorting to hanging and swinging off Podge’s ears!

Big man Jimi adores Podge and they’re honestly like two peas in a pod 🫛💚🫛

We love it. Enjoy!! 🥰

Meet big boy ‘Podge’ a 14-month-old Bull Arab x Great Dane x Mastiff.

Podge is the epitome of sweet, goofy, gentle-giant’ness. He is great with other dogs and children.

Because he is an intact male, he has been attacked by other male dogs and has had to fight to defend himself, but otherwise he shows no signs of wanting to be an aggressor. He has lived amiably with another large male dog and has played beautifully with other small dogs – although he is yet to learn how his size and ungainliness can be somewhat intimidating during play sessions.

Podge has no experience with cats, farm animals or chickens. He has chased Bush Turkeys but displays no apparent prey-drive. After barking deeply at me (which would scare the 💩 out of anyone) he very graciously welcomed me and Angeji the Basenji onto his domain.

He has received little to no training and currently suffers from separation anxiety. He will need both ongoing training and crate-training to help him with his selective hearing and insecurities.

Podge’s $450 adoption fee will include his booster vaccination, tick/flea/worm treatment and desex.
