Walter

Little scallywag ‘Walter’ (formerly Poppy Bear) is an 8-year-old desexed male Silky Terrier x Dachshund.

We rescued him on Thursday; he then enjoyed his first excursion to the beach where he swam and romped happily with lots of other dogs. He then had a bath to rid him of hundreds of fleas, together with a worm, flea & tick treatment.

Then he was off to his foster-carers. Many thanks to Leanne who got him in to the vet on Friday, where he was health-checked, castrated and vaccinated. He’s also being crate-trained and is settling in to his new lifestyle with ease.

Walter is a street-smart little dude. He has been allowed to roam the streets for years and has miraculously survived. He has zero training and knows zilch commands. He also has zelective hearing 😆

Nevertheless, he is a sweet little chap who will benefit from lots of loving care. He is great with other dogs and completely at ease with cats. He has been around children, but will snap if grabbed suddenly. We think he may have some mild arthritis pain in his hind quarters.

🚩 Once recovered from his desex, Walter will be moving into another foster situation with one of our previously adopted dogs, Loki, the 4-year-old Cavalier x Dachshund. If things work out, Walter will be adopted…
