DES UPDATE – ADOPTION SUCCESSFUL
Emma contacted BDR, feeling finally ready to provide a loving home to a new dog after losing her beloved Husky to old age. Emma was hopeful we could introduce her to a dog who could accompany her to work at the Rest Home.
Although Des the 7½-year-old Kelpie x Shepherd had spent his entire life on the farm; had never known a bed or even been inside a house, nor had he ever had a bath or a brush – I felt he was clever enough and incredibly well-behaved enough to adapt to a whole new style of existence and perhaps even enjoy some home comforts & spoiling.
Des hit it off with Emma and her son from the get-go. You will see from the photos that Des has adapted incredibly well:
📺 First night in his new home he was super-swift to hit the couch and enjoy TV viewing with his two new best mates
🛁 Des was stunned when the Happy Hounds mobile shampoo unit showed up…. but OMG look at how fetching & handsome he is now!
🍛 A whole roast chicken dinner for me?!
♿ Gentleman Des’s first day at work was a complete success. Des is now a regular aged-care-worker, shaking hands and bringing smiles to the faces of so many residents
☕ He has also embraced café-life and enjoys hanging with his new café-dog-buddies
Des also gets to enjoy morning cuddles on the bed with Emma!! and daily beach walks!!!
Emma writes “Des has been too good to be true. We are pretty inseparable – he has transformed our lives”.

7 ½-year-old desexed male Kelpie x Shepherd “Des” is looking for a new home.
He has enjoyed the farm life for most of his life, but due to a change in his owners’ circumstances, Des is also needing a change of circumstance.
He’s lived happily with 2 other dogs who have already been rehomed. Des is a good boy, obeys commands and still loves to play & romp with his companion(s).
Des will show undying gratitude for a place in someone’s heart and a warm bed.
