SHERMAN UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

Rescued from the pound due to his serial escapism antics, little 4-year-old English Staffy Sherman (now Sam), delighted in his new foster-family from the get-go.

He enjoys daily beach or river frolics, he’s very responsive to Skye’s training & socialisation strategies and he LOVES the kids; bounding from one bed to another each evening, before settling with the chosen youngster for the night.

Even though brand-new foster-carer Skye declared from the outset that she was keen to foster with the intent to one day adopt – she would definitely NOT be adopting another Staffy – but she was happy to look after Sherman while we found him his perfect new home.

Well…. Sherman now Sam, had other ideas. It only took him one week before I received the following:

“Surprise, surprise… Sam has slotted into our family amazingly!Doesn’t bark, stays at home even if the door is open, he’s happy at home alone, loves my friend’s dogs, doesn’t chase cats, loves the beach & river, and the kids have fallen in love! …and, surprise, surprise again, so have I! We’d love to keep him.”

Sam’s transformation from manic, bouncing off walls, not present, not connecting, no eye contact… has been truly delightful to witness. He’s now calm, doesn’t bark, greets you gently with tail wagging, big smile, eye contact – absolutely endearing.

Amazing what a lot of fun, a little discipline and a tonne of love can do for an unwieldy boy!  💓💓 🐚

We rescued 4-year-old de-sexed male English Staffy “Sherman” from the pound last week where he’d found himself in trouble due to his escapism and itinerant behaviours.

Sherman was literally bouncing off the walls with pent-up energy, but he has now settled beautifully with his foster-carer and her 2 children. He was simply desperate for attention, exercise and a dependable, loving, fun environment.

Sherman is small but very strong and energetic. He loves the beach and playing in the river. He’s learning some basic commands, is house-trained, great in the car and is excellent with kids and good with other dogs.

He is hose and ball obsessive and can get somewhat overbearing and defensive with other dogs who are vying for the same ball.

Sherman will need ongoing training, lots of running and plenty of attentive-time with his people.
