RAGNAR UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED
1-year-old Great Dane x Mastiff x Wolfhound ‘Ragnar’ has been absolutely blessed since his arrival in the Byron Shire.
Thanks to CAWI/BDR volunteer and animal advocate Luka, big-boy Ragnar was rescued from a completely inappropriate situation and placed into fabulous foster-care with Sass & Nils. They accomplished wonders with Ragnar, commencing some training and successfully providing him with a loving and safe temporary home where he was also beautifully nursed while recovering from his desex operation.
We received many applications for Ragnar’s adoption, but due to her outstanding, responsible and forward thinking care-plan for Ragnar, Peta and her daughter were the successful applicants.
In order to settle a rather anxious Ragnar into his new home, BDR and Peta collaborated with Lissie the fab Furry Dogmother who provided several triumphant training, calming and bonding sessions.
On top of their own daily exercise outings with Ragnar, Peta has also organised once-weekly doggie day-care and socialisation sessions with Heidi’s Hounds, plus twice weekly walk sessions with Woofa’s Walkers; an amazing support structure!!
So many thanks to everyone involved in turning Ragnar’s life around and providing him with all the care and support needed to help him become the gorgeous, well adjusted giant that he is.

RAGNAR ADOPTION – Looking for fans of Gentle-Giants
Great Dane x Mastiff ‘Ragnar’ is a gentle-giant weighing in at 48.7kg at only 11-months of age.
He is super smart, very gentle and loves with all of his big heart. Ragnar is as strong as an ox but non-reactive and loves everyone and everything, except he will chase down chickens.
He is very social with other dogs, sweet and gentle with kids and his favourite thing is to snuggle on the couch or be with you while you work. He’s a low energy couch potato as long as he gets a good walk with lots of sniffing and socialising once a day.
He’s super special and has been through a lot, so nothing less than a loving stable home will do for this big boy! He is scheduled for desexing next week.
