POPPY UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

2½-year-old English Springer Spaniel ‘Poppy’ proved to be very popular, with adoption enquiries coming in from around the country. However, Poppy’s dominant personality proved to be too challenging for some, until she met Cassie and family.

Cassie, hubby and three children live in a remote part of the Tweed Hinterland where they love co-existing with their animals and small pack of dogs. Very experienced in maintaining a well mannered and harmonious pack, they instantly fell in love with Poppy and felt completely confidant she would settle with their 3 other dogs with proper introductions and supervision.

Fraser, the youngest boy, was bubbling over with excitement at the prospect of Poppy becoming his best buddy.

And so it was…. Poppy has settled with the other dogs remarkably well and her and Fraser are steadfast besties. Poppy sleeps with Fraser, they go walking and swimming together every day and they love cuddles and smiling into each other’s eyes.

Cassie writes “Poppy is absolutely beautiful and has settled in so well!! We are totally in love with her 💞  Fraser and Poppy are both in heaven – Fraser keeps telling me that he loves how Poppy smiles at him – she follows him everywhere. We are so grateful that she chose us!”

Poppy’s previous owner misses her enormously but is equally grateful and happy that Poppy found such a wonderful family to share her life with.

PLEASE NOTE  Due to an overwhelming response to Poppy’s adoption profile, applications are now closed.
Anyone who has already lodged interest in Poppy with Shell, will be contacted and interviewed, with potential Poppy meet-ups in process. Thank you.

Meet perky, playful Poppy, a 2-year-7-month-old desexed female English Springer Spaniel.

Due to changes in her current owners’ personal circumstances, Poppy is looking for her next perfectly suited home and companion.

Poppy is a cheerful, alert, affectionate, outgoing and active girl. She is used to free-ranging on a rural property and has always had another dog companion.

She is bright and will benefit greatly from some gentle guidance and ongoing training. She has exhibited on rare occasions some dominance behaviours over smaller female dogs and will need continued and initially monitored, socialisation with other dogs.

Poppy would suit someone acquainted with her breed, who will be a gentle yet firm master who can gain her respect. She requires an active lifestyle with at least one good run a day.

Poppy will need someone who can spend a lot of time with her or another doggy companion (she will not do well left alone for long periods).
