ESHA UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

When rescued, 9-year-old German Shepherd x Kelpie ‘Esha’ was enduring chronic ear infections, flea & mite infestations, chronic dry skin, painful hips & hind legs. He looked disheartened and positively decrepit.

We treated his fleas & mites and placed him on a green-lipped-muscle based supplement for his achy joints.  🙏💙Thanks to his warm-hearted and diligent foster-carer Tina, who tirelessly applied antibiotic eardrops, cleansed his ears and bathed him regularly with special shampoo & conditioner, Esha perked up significantly displaying a joyous spring in his step and a vibrant shiny coat.

Next in Esha’s journey to a better & brighter future, was his meet-up and successful adoption by Alex, a Personal Trainer who specialises in helping older clients. She felt ready for an older dog companion and with her skills and talent for understanding the anatomy of older bodies, she has continued to aid Esha’s recovery by providing him with safe & effective exercise… and massages!!

Esha is looking fabulous and with his renewed joie de vivre, has to sometimes be reigned-in to avoid hurting himself. Alex adores him and writes “Thanks so much Shell & BDR, he really is amazing. I feel very blessed.” 😊

ADOPTION
Sweet, adorable and sincerely soft-natured ‘Esha’ is a desexed male 8-year-10-month-old German Shepherd x Kelpie.

I’d only met Esha once before, then suddenly showed up again, picked him clean off the ground, popped him in the back of the BDR wagon, where he quickly & politely settled in with ‘Angeji the Basenji’ for an adventuresome day ahead.

Esha looks very old for his years. He’s got a limp, he’s itchy and he’s forming some old-age cloudiness in his eyes. However, after a vet visit, his prognosis was heartening. His hips and left hind-leg are sore with a touch of arthritis. His eyes are ok. His skin is dry and he may have mites.

No worries. He’s now fully vaccinated, being treated for fleas and mites. He’s on a 5-day pain & anti-inflammatory course of meds for his achy hips and leg, and is now receiving green-lipped muscle/chondroitin/glucosamine supplements in his diet to help support and promote joint health.

After his vet visit, a trip out to our centre for some yummy shampoo and conditioner to treat his dry skin. We then roared over to Lissie the Furry Dogmother, who very kindly helped give him a much needed shampoo/condition and shed.

Next stop, his fairy foster-mum Tina’s home; where he quickly found the pantry, helped himself to a pigs-ear which he respectfully trotted outside for an exquisite chew. He’s taken to his brand new bed and blankets and is soaking up all the care and attention.

Esha will soon be looking for a new, kind, caring, loving home to live out the rest of his life. Please contact Shell on 0458461935.
