ARI (now Bingo) UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED for the second time

2-year-old Shepherd x Staffy ‘Ari’ has been on a journey of rehabilitation and finding her place in the world ever since we rescued her from the pound last year.

Although Ari has bounced and boomeranged, she has learnt something wonderful from each phase, helping her to find peace in a world that had severely frightened her.

In foster-care with Athena, she learnt to love and trust humans again. During her 8-months with adoptive mum Jolene, she learned even more about human care and love and with training and gentle exposure, she even desensitised somewhat to her immense fear of other dogs and human males.

Unfortunately Jolene’s work commitments increased and with an extremely heavy heart she felt Ari would develop more in a situation where she could spend lots more quality time with her people.

Serendipitously, father and son Peter and Andrew rang, and compassionately offered to home a dog who was a difficult case. They had experience with reactive dogs and jumped at the opportunity to meet Ari.

Well…. it was pretty much love at first sight for the men and Ari (now Bingo) never left their sides.

Although initially freaked and missing her gorgeous mum Jolene, Ari/Bingo soon learned that Peter and Andrew had not only a ton of love to give her, but also a ton of time, which she is lapping up with glee.

Although she thoroughly enjoys her ball/beach visits (and miraculously has had zero incidents with other dogs) Bingo eagerly heads back to the car so she can go home and simply hang out with her blokes.

After a visit this week, I was completely delighted to see her looking utterly relaxed and happy in the company of her equally delighted men folk

ARI UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

Rescued from the pound, 1½-year-old beautiful female Shepherd Staffy x ‘Ari’ absolutely begged for love with her big beautiful eyes. She also exhibited extreme anxiety on meeting new people, urinating herself and panting uncontrollably.

I felt she desperately needed some feminine love and care, and wonderful new foster-carer Athena provided that in abundance. Within no time Ari had completely stopped urinating herself and was enjoying her new social life, visiting cafes, frolicking on play dates and adjusting to off-leash time at the beach.

We also discovered poor Ari suffered an erratic and unpredictable fear based reactivity with certain dogs, triggered by her anxiety and more than likely a lack of supervised, gentle socialisation as a young dog.

Nevertheless, her progress with Athena was outstanding and we hoped and wished that Ari would meet another strong capable woman who could continue with the love-giving, rehab steps and ultimately provide Ari with her forever home.

Enter Jolene!!

Jolene wasn’t fazed by Ari’s unpredictable reactivity with dogs, and continues, with BDR’s support, to provide Ari with various measures to gradually and gently overcome her chronic anxiety.

Ari now enjoys a hinterland lifestyle, has become Jolene’s adoring companion and the cherry on the cake – Ari now takes daily pleasure in her most’est favourite pastime, fetching and swimming in her local creeks and river.

Well done gorgeous girl, and humungous thanks and respect to Jolene for persevering with highly traumatised, yet well worth the effort – Miss Adorable Ari 💜💚🐶💚💜

We rescued adorable girl ‘Ari’ from the pound last week.

We estimate she is between 1-2-years-old and is a Shepherd/Kelpie/Staffy mix-breed. She is desexed and now vaccinated and flea / tick / heartworm / intestinal worm treated.

Ari presented as extraordinarily sweet-natured but extremely timid. She would lose control of her bladder when meeting new people.

Now in tender loving foster-care, Ari is already feeling more at ease and looking so much happier. She has quickly gathered a group of admiring and supportive aunties around her.

Without delay, we have house-trained Ari and introduced her to beach-fun, cafe-life and she has enjoyed enormously, play-dates with a number of other dogs. She is responding well and has so much potential. She adores/craves love, she bonds quickly and enjoys lolling about at home with her human.

Ari responds well to commands but will need further training. Currently, she can still become overwhelmed in excitable situations and suffers from separation anxiety.

Ari would love a constant companion or a family with older children. If you can provide this gorgeous girl with lots of loving attention and patience, please contact Shell on 0458461935.
