JEFF UPDATE – SUCESSFULLY ADOPTED

5-½-year-old Jack Russell x Husky ‘Jeff’ (now Geoff) took a while to settle in with his fabulous foster-carers Barbara & Paul, possibly due to the fact that he was top-dog in his previous circumstance and suddenly had no one to dominate or lord it over.

After a month in care, he ultimately attuned to his new situation and started to eat well, got a spring in his step, loved his walks and frolics at the beach and started to appreciate that Paul was the new alpha.

Now, he’s all eyes for Paul, follows him everywhere and loves his new-found status. Geoff is relaxed, engages with other dogs really well and…. won the hearts of both Paul & Barbara who have now adopted him  💞

We are delighted that BDR was able to provide Geoff, his brother Bailey and mum Billie (Millie), with three new wonderful homes where they are all well contained and their previous voracious hunting sprees have been completely curtailed  👍👌😺

Meet Jeff, a desexed male 5-year-7-month-old, wait for it… Jack Russell x Husky!

Jeff is a soft, sweet, gentle natured boy with humans. He is also great with children and loves hanging out with the family.

He is good with other dogs when out & about, for instance at the beach.

Jeff has been living with his brother and mum since birth, and they have unfortunately formed a formidable little pack. With the hunting skills of the Jack Russell and the high prey drive of the Husky, all three have been escaping their yard and have very sadly killed a neighbour’s cat. They are also very unfriendly towards visiting dogs.

We are hopeful that by rehoming all three dogs separately, their desire for escaping, ganging-up and hunting will be diminished.

Jeff will need an extremely secure yard and could only be walked off-leash in a fenced dog-park or remote dog-beach (a soft muzzle may also help).

He is responsive to commands, but will need more training and needs to learn some better boundaries.
