LOLA’S STORY – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

Two-months ago, 6-year-old female Staffy x ‘Lola’ was surrendered to BDR for re-homing, because her previous owners were relocating overseas.

Lola was a much loved family member and her people had spent months trying to find her a wonderful new home. Unfortunately all possibilities had fallen through. With only a couple of weeks to go before their departure, BDR was recommended due to our reputation for providing individual specialised attention and diligent effort in finding the best possible new forever home for every dog in our care.

We were aware that Tim was looking for another Staffy companion, because he was deeply grieving the loss of his two beloved Staffy’s – Sonny Boy to old age and then suddenly, Grubby to inoperable cancer.

I invited Tim to join ‘Angeji the Basenji’ and I to meet ‘Lola’ up at Tweed, where we determined that small but strong, sweet-natured Lola needed some identifiable training for massive leash-pulling and dog-reactivity, due to a lack of socialisation.

Tim nevertheless was already becoming enamoured with lovely Lola and agreed to foster her with the intention of adopting, on the proviso that after some training sessions, Lola showed potential for learning and change.

Soon after, we received a very generous donation from Lola’s previous family which supported us to employ the fabulous ‘Furry Dogmother’ to help Tim with several training and behaviour modification sessions. Tim was also assiduous with the “homework” that Lissie imparted.

Lola responded fabulously to all the input. With the added help of a front-leader harness, she now walks beautifully on-leash and is also enjoying closely monitored off-leash walks at the beach.

Lola is a gem at home and even graciously welcomed Angeji into her home on adoption day, where the pair of them had much fun running around exploring on Tim’s beautiful fully-fenced property.

Tim is exceedingly grateful and thrilled with his loving Lola, and Lola is quite literally in heaven  👴💞🐈
