MILO UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

1½-year-old Kelpie x Shepherd ‘Milo’ is one very happy and contented boy!

In our care for close to a year, we were growing concerned for his mental health due to his proclivity for developing OCD behaviours and his ever increasing aloofness. He desperately needed his own home where he could finally bond with his people.

Absolute characters, charmers and steadfast dog people, Margaret and Barry (both 80) had just lost one of their dogs to old age and their other dog Molly was pining. They drove 50km’s to our shelter and were instantly attracted to Milo.

They assured us if anything happened to them, their dog-loving daughter would take on their dogs. We acquiesced and decided that Milo could only benefit from their love, care and decades of dog experience.

Well… what a great decision that turned out to be! I’ve popped in on several occasions to check on Milo and he is a changed boy. No sign of obsessive behaviours, he loves Margaret & Barry and Molly, the extended family all love him and he enjoys park run-arounds, river and beach adventures and if they don’t get out, Milo gets invited to the neighbours’ huge fenced yard where he plays ball to his heart’s content.

In the evenings, Milo is invited onto the sofa with Barry where he looks like he’s the king of the manor.

Margaret told me the tale of Milo’s first night with them; “I served Barry and my dinner and popped the plates on our little side tables in the lounge room. Barry called me outside to look at something and by the time we headed back in; Milo had sneakily snuck inside and polished off our dinners!! I was aghast!” Barry then piped into the conversation laughing his head off, saying “Shell! That’s never happened again, but that time was so worth it just to see the look on Margaret’s face!! 😂🤣.“ God they’re a pair of delightful characters.

Happy days Milo – you’ve finally found your people 👏😃💖

Check out this handsome hearty happy lad!!

12-month-old Labrador Retriever x Border Collie ‘Milo’ needs a new home.

Huge thanks to foster-carer Samantha who rescued Milo from a very dysfunctional situation where he was constantly tied to a veranda and presented somewhat emaciated.

Milo is now in Sam’s care looking bright and healthy.

Milo will be neutered soon and upon recovery will be looking for his new companion or active family. He is great with other dogs and children, but will need more training. He is currently being house-trained and taught basic commands.
